Fellow humans,
Matthew 6:34, Jesus said:
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Christians and non-Christians can agree — this is profound. When I feel like a failure, I motivate myself with goals. I come up with a plan, then I start to feel better. Of course, that dreadful moment always comes — worrying about the future, and self-doubt pouring in. I’ll go out on a limb, and assume some of you have similar experiences. This moment is crucial.
We can let that worry lead us to a dark place, or we can take a moment to understand that worry and self-doubt are mental traps. I’m struggling with this myself, so I won’t pretend like I have all the answers. I wasn’t planning on posting a newsletter today, but I was inspired while riding my bicycle this morning.
As I was peddling uphill, I realized — those moments of peddling are all that matters. There could be a thousand more hills, each one more difficult, but I would never make it if I stopped peddling on that first hill. Today is that first hill, let’s keep peddling. Let’s focus on today.
Until next time,
Salvatore Norge
